Arrived in Augsburg on 30SEP09 and checked into my Gasthaus. That done, I needed some food and Bier. Why, how convenient? A brewpub only a five minute walk down the street! A 0.5l of Schwarzbier (for 2.90EU) was my first thirst-slaker.
The tall glass was holding a deep, clear chestnut bier. Slow, steady carbo in the form of minute bubbles proceeded topside, helping create a 1/4" layer of beige foam. The head lasted well, though little lace was left behind. Had a mild nose, with some roast and caramel. A solid medium body and a fairly nice and even presence on the tongue made for a good mouthfeel.
Malts are nice here, putting down a thin layer of sweetness on the palate. There's some caramel here, too, with a touch of light roastiness present. More like a Dunkel than a Schwarzbier, imo, as it's not as dark colored or bitter. Still tasty though! Zum Wohl!!

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
