Stepping forward out of the shadows and flames, our first limited release of 2022 has arrived. This Belgian-style Tripel begins enticingly with fruity and spicy aromas, which are beguilingly mirrored in the flavor. A velvet-bodied ale that’s both delicate and complex, The Apparition’s dry finish calls out for more, while it’s 9.4% ABV is perfect for pondering that which exists in this world and beyond.

This is a wild ride from Chimay's tripel.
But, I think I can hang with it.
Some very heavy copy on the Apparition's can. And if you can figure out the synergy and disintegration with Munster's father crafter (3 Floyds), then you have more patience than me.
Except for some average Looks with a flimsy foam indicating a weak yeast to me, The Apparition is impressive. A very intriguing Smell, a Taste balancing sweet malts and spices, and a full viscous mouth for a pale. While I drank this with a plate of two day old leftovers (and it didn't improve the food one bit), I still think I can conclude The Apparition is not a table ale. Yet, I would have it again.... by itself.

The Apparition pours a darker bronze color, with a small, but lacing head. Aroma is a bit lighter, but banana, and heavy on the spice. Flavor is sweeter, banana notes, heavy Belgian candy and spice notes, a hint of coriander, and just a tad bitterness to mix in. Good body and feel. Overall, a very very tasty tripel, lots of flavors, without overpowering.

Smell explodes out on opening, sweet and fruit. A creamier mouthfeel than most tripels I've had, which is good. A lot more stand-up flavor than some, as well. Good to see an Indiana outfit do a tripel!

12oz can
Clear with a ring of head. Smells like bubblegum and booze. The taste is Belgian yeast with all the requisite flavors (bubblegum, banana, clove) all bundled up in a very nice, very powdery package... with lots of honey and a tiny bit of hop funk... the alcohol is only apparent by the fire in my gut and the drunk in my walk. Maybe too sweet, but who cares, I really like this

Pours a clear golden copper color with a creamy oatmeal colored head. Absolutely gorgeous tripel. The nose has the requisite bubblegum and clove and banana, and those notes translate perfectly to the taste, with no hint of the alcohol (9.4% ABV).
The mouthfeel is full and has some bite. This is an outstanding tripel, IMHO, that I would try repeatedly.

12oz can PKGD ON 02/11/22 (37 days ago) poured into a tulip glass at 53° Fahrenheit, no ABV listed on label (9.5% says BA). The beer pours bright light amber in color with off white head. The head recedes to a thin ring and island of tiny bubbles. The aroma is pretty sweet malt with bubblegum and banana. The taste is semisweet banana, bubblegum, mild clove and then drops off to a barely bitter end. The mouthfeel is medium bodied, a little syrupy with medium carbonation and a fairly undry finish. Alcohol is pretty well hidden. Overall, a bit too sweet for me.
