This copper-colored lager has a thick, cream-colored head created by our traditional side pull beer faucets and a smooth and mild bitterness with faint floral hop aromas. You’ll be greeted with a complex malt flavor backdrop of pretzel crust, caramel, and bread from this all-German ingredient beer.

From a 16oz can labeled "Batch 248" )That's helpful. :shrugs:) into a shaker pint glass.

Pours a slightly hazy reddish brown with a little more than one finger of light tan head. Pretty retention and lacing.

Nice aromas of bread, toast caramel, biscuit and light pine.

Taste follows. Some sweetness along with the bread. Maybe a touch of bitterness.

Pretty full-bodied and a little chewy. Reminding me a little of a marzen. Medium carbonation.

Maybe not as clean drinking as I would expect but still a nice enough beer.

Can bought at brewery:
A deep amber to rusty light brown with a dirty white head that does generate a few spots of lacing. Nose is of brown bread and allusions to warm fall spice. There's a bit of fruitiness in the nose, and perhaps helped by the spice notes, it comes to me a little bit like red delicious apple - akin to apple cider or, with the breadiness, apple strudel. I will note that this apple note doesn't seem like a flaw of too much acetaldehyde to me.

Taste is very nicely malty to open - even better the maltiness comes without being too sweet. Crusty brown bread with a little bit of light brown sugar and the spice noted in the nose. Noble hops bring a bitterness that has a grassy side and gives me a slight metallic note that I often get in amber beers with old world hops. A little bit of fruitiness appears in the middle - not as apple-like as the nose, but perhaps adjacent to it.

Nice carbonation, with medium weight and thickness, it is sits just outside of being a easy drinking refreshing brew and one that I prefer to spend a little bit of time savoring.

Update - Really enjoy this version. Ruby amber from 16oz can. Big head that laces down the glass till the end. Smooth malts and balanced hops. Clean taste of bread and carmel with a pleasant finish. Very balanced. Enjoying the more I drink it.

Pours out a copper-penny color with an off-white head. The smell to me was of hops, malt, caramel, and some type of grain. The taste to me was one of hops, malt, and some kind of multi-grain toast. Overall, it's a really good beer.

I just had a pint at my local bar in Lambertville. I had never heard of this brewery and they just got it in stock. It’s delicious- malty and hardly any bitterness. I could easily get down with these and it’s 5.5% abv but you can’t tell. I’m gonna try their other offerings. I’m impressed. Good shit. Drink Local! ✊

Von C Brewing Co. "Vienna Style Lager"
16 fl. oz. can, "CANNED ON 03/04/22" and sampled on 03/30/22
$4 at the brewery on 03/26/22

Notes via stream of consciousness: It's poured a slightly hazy, very deep amber or copper colored body beneath a finger's width of white foam. The aroma displays a grainy and lightly toasty malt base with very limited hops in the far back. It's clean and fresh and welcoming. The taste follows with just a little more hop character that's lightly herbal and delicately spicy. A median bitterness of 20-something IBUs balances it nicely and brings it to a fairly dry finish with just a dollop of malt and hops lingering with the bitterness. In the mouth it's medium-light to medium in body and gently crisp. It's a really nicely done beer with great balance. Both the malt and hops are just right, and this is about as clost to style as you can get. If there's one fault here it's that both the head retention and lacing could be better. One of their better beers in my opinion.

Look: It pours copper with an off white head. Head retention is very good.

Smell: It has malty aromas that feature dark bread with some crusts. There is a very low level of herbs in the background.

Taste: It has bread flavors with some crusts. There are some faint floral and herbal elements.

Feel: It has a medium body.

Overall, plenty of malty flavors with hops to balance out the malty sweetness.
