Very nice recreation of the Prior Pilsener of the 1940s, brewed in those days by Adam Scheidt in Norristown. Prior was an all malt Czech style pilsener developed by Scheidt to replace Pilsener Urquell which was unavailable during WWII. They continued with it after the war, and sales boomed. You might say it was the first craft beer in the US, specifically brewed as a high end all malt beer, priced well above even the premiums of the era. Von C brewing is owned and run by descendants of the Schmidt beer family: Schmidt purchased the Scheidt brewery and continued the production of Prior into the 1970s. The Von C version is beautiful, full bodied, and certainly worthy of comparison to Pilesener Urquell.
