a rather authentic example of the style here, nice autumnal orange color, frothy tan head, and higher carbonation, looks right on in the glass. its definitely got old world lager yeast happening in it, highlighting both the water profile and the minerals in the malt, lightly crackery to me, simple in some ways, but nicely balanced too. the grain is less sweet than in a lot of these, lacking the caramel sort of richness, but its replaced by crispness, and as such by drinkability, which to me is a trade worth making, i do not miss more grain depth at all here. its simple nature even leaves a little room for the noble hops on the back end, subtle enough but providing some balancing bitterness on the swallow. solid on the ferment, nicely composed and executed, and overall one of the better small timey brewery examples of the style i encountered anywhere this fall. nice job on this, the only lager i had while i was visiting their awesome little taproom. this place is putting out some killer beers right now!
