blueberry milkshake sour, shockingly good in a style space i am generally not wild about. the fruit seems authentic, the lactose is not dominant, and the souring is clean and modest, tart without being assertively acidic, nice proportions on this, not overly desserty, i liked it real well, and its definitely one of the more ambitious beers i have had from these guys so far. pretty color, high saturation violet color from all the blueberries, hazy, some carbonation, a little dense and sedimented but ive seen much worse and there still a brightness to the color. the nose on it is sweet as it is tangy, the blueberries are heavy and jammy but not too sugary, the lactose adds a real creaminess, and as intense as the fruit is, i still get some grain underneath so it stays beery. sourness is lemony and bacterial and held in check, which is smart, subtle vanilla and blackberry notes here too, port wine, not quite sour enough to be mouthwatering but definitely appealing. flavor is good, dense with berry, some natural and off the bush, some baked and sweetened like pie filling, but really good, not too much lactose in this, the tang is perfect, and it feels full without being heavy or gross, juicy and bold, the execution here is excellent. not generally the kind of beer i like to drink, but they did a great job with this. the blueberry aspect is nice, as is the souring, it comes together well. the kids would put this one on instagram i reckon...
