Poured from a 16oz can into a dimpled mug. Can filled today at the brewery.

Appearance: hazy medium-brown hue with a thick finger of frothy tan foam atop. A good-looking dunkelweizen.

Smell: banana, clove, wheat, and perhaps a hint of chocolate. An absolutely solid dunkelweizen aroma -- I love it.

Taste: lightly sweet wheat malt (the literature says it's made with spelt), with a dose of that lovely banana character. There's a dash of something harsh at the end which is all that is preventing this from being truly excellent, but overall it's a very tasty beer indeed.

Mouthfeel: medium body with a good dose of carbonation and a good creaminess.

Overall: you don't see many dunkelweizens at craft breweries, and when you do, they're usually pretty underwhelming. This, however, might be the best dunkelweizen I've had produced outside of Germany.
