I missed this one during the summer, but just found this beer on clear-out sale for 4.99 for a six pack. Comes in a sealed box, so should be OK (no best before date on label). New style, orange label, in standard brown bottle.
Pours a clear golden color, slightly darker expected. Bright white foam, but didn't leave much head. Clean smell with some grainy malt. Not much aroma or flavor in this one. A bit malty, and grain, but not the sour aftertaste like some other macros. Overall quite pleasant. Nothing special, but a good summer-type brew. Goes down easy, could easily chug a few to beat the heat. Good carbonation keeps it bubbly and light. The more I drank, the more I liked it. Even at full price would be worth it. Will keep it in mind for next summer.

A new limited summer release from Shaftebury, possibly a sideways step from their Summer Days Premium Lager from last year. Was on special at Willow Park when I bought it, a bit over $7 a 6-er.
Pours out a decent clear golden hue, lots of carbonation, a fair sized spongy white head that retains to a thin creamy cap.
Hmmm, I pick up on husky grains and a bit of corn on the nose. Something akin to a biscuity malt makes itself known in time. Also a bit yeasty.
Not a whole lot going on in the flavour department. In fact it all sort of comes out in the aftertaste instead. That husky grain, the corn, and a bit of bready malt. In fact I'm beginning to become a bit wary of an adjunct presence, something seems off. This is tasting quite akin to a macro.
The mouthfeel is along the lines of a macro as well, somewhat thin, and that carbonation burn as it goes down.
Reminds me more of Molson Canadian at this point than a pilsner, let alone a microbrewed one. I now understand the price, this is cheap fizzy summer beer for mowing the lawn and bbqing. And cheaper than a Molson product as well.
