The perfect summer beer with a silky texture and light citrus flavour. With a pale hue, this fluffy ale is refreshing for those hot summer days on the river. Wonderfully aromatic and naturally hazy, this is sure to hit the spot. Cheers.

Tallboy from the brewpub; dated Jun 25 2021. Brewed and canned at Spearhead in Kingston, served slightly chilled.
Pours a hazy golden-amber colour, producing nearly an inch of soapy, frothy white head that seeps off within three minutes or so. A tight collar surrounds an islet of creamy suds; a modest amount of delicate lace also remains. Looks like a typical unfiltered wheat ale, with the nose only furthering that assertion: I'm getting wheaty bread and graininess, with maybe a touch of spiciness.
A bare bones wheat ale, but it'll get the job done: it tastes grainy and wheaty, with bready, doughy pale malt sweetness throughout. Hints of lemon peel, orange and peppery spice towards the finish, followed by more wheatiness dissipating into the aftertaste. Medium in body, with moderately assertive carbonation that prickles the palate with each sip, adding a bit of crispness to this brew's smooth, relatively fulfilling mouthfeel. Easy to drink without complaint.
Final Grade: 3.39, a B-. At times, Hazy Float Down almost seems hefe-like, but at the same time, it never quite seals the deal: it's just too one-dimensional and (to be honest) plain to the point of being insipid. Yes, I think American pale wheat is the right 'box' for this beer - I've had worse and I've had better, so this one is nothing worth getting riled up over. Try it if you're at the pub next summer, then decide for yourself.
