Tallboy purchased at the brewery; dated May 4 2023 and served well chilled.
Pours a foggy straw-yellow colour, topped with one finger of tight, creamy white head that disintegrates within two or three minutes. A foamy collar of suds lives on, with a few strands of lace tossed about in its wake - looks fine to me. Straightforward aroma of grains, wheat bread and grassy hay; comes off clean and wholesome.
Same goes for the flavour, which is mostly grainy pale malts & white bread, alongside hints of wheat & crackery sweetness. Subtle notes of grassy, earthy hops appear near the finish, lasting briefly into a slightly grainy-sweet aftertaste that dries off quickly. Light in body, with lively carbonation that vigorously prickles the surface of the palate with each sip; crisp mouthfeel, and quite refreshing.
Final Grade: 3.76, a B+. Two Waters' Kolsch Style Ale was just what the doctor ordered on a muggy early July evening. Its flavour profile is appropriate for the style, but simplistic - however, this is one of those styles where I don't pay much attention to the bells and whistles. I mostly just finish the glass and ask myself, "do I want another?" And in this case yes, yes I do. I'm assuming this is either a one-off or a seasonal, but I'd buy this over their other lagers, Ferry Dock and Hill Street.
