Tallboy from the brewery; no canning date and served slightly chilled.
Pours a foggy pale yellow colour, producing less than a finger of tight, foamy white head that lasts for at least a couple of minutes. A thin collar and filmy cap are all that remain, with modest lace deposition as I sip at and swirl the glass. Muted hints of lemon and lactic acidity on the nose, with suggestions of wheaty grains and grassy hops; very subtle coriander spice.
A solid stab at a traditional gose; quite approachable even for those who rarely dabble in sours. Salt water, lemons and apples at first, with bready wheat sweetness in the background. Mild to moderate lactic acidity, like plain yogurt; finishes with hints of lemon, grassy hops and coriander, followed by a mildly sour aftertaste that fades to salt water. Light-medium in body, with assertive carbonation that add a firm bite to its mouthfeel. Smooth, easy-drinking sour with session potential.
Final Grade: 3.83, a B+. The Adventure gave me everything I've come to expect from a gose: the salt, the sour, as well as the delicate balance between those and the malts/hops. I wouldn't call this a memorable beer or anything, but I do think it's a more-than-competent re-creation of the style, and that's fairly impressive for a small town brewpub that doesn't focus on sours. Good beer for hot weather, worth a fair shake.
