473 mL can from the brewery; dated Nov 7 2023 and served slightly chilled.
Pours a bright, clear sunny yellow colour, with more than an inch of frothy white head rising to the surface. It lasts for two or three minutes, steadily eroding down to a tight collar and some wisps of film on the surface; a thin ring of lace hangs just above. The aroma is understated yet nuanced, offering up hints of grainy pale malts, melon, caramel and grapefruit, with suggestions of floral hops and juniper berries.
I'm tasting grainy pale malts and citrus, specifically lemon and grapefruit; there are also minor notes of melon and stone fruit, with earthy, floral hops coming to dominate the tail end. Slightly resiny, with an off-dry aftertaste. Light in body, with moderately assertive carbonation that feels spritzy, giving some bite to this pale ale's smooth, soft mouthfeel; good drinkability.
Final Grade: 3.66, a B grade. I was Stuck At The Tracks on Rokeby earlier this year, and I could've easily tossed back a tallboy of this beer during the agonizingly long fifteen minutes it took for the train to very...slowly...pass. Not that I'd ever participate in drinking and driving... I'm just saying, this is crushable, and that train is so very, very slow. It reminds me a little of their Almost the Capital, although that brew was more malt-forward - this one is hoppier, drinking more like a session IPA than a true APA. Not bad - worth a shot, but there are other Two Water pale ales & IPAs that I'd select before this one.
