473 mL can from the brewery; no canning date. Served slightly chilled. The name is a reference to the fact that the building which Two Water occupies was once a police station.
Pours a hazy, translucent golden-yellow colour, with more than two fingers of soapy, foamy white head erupting from the surface. Though generous in size, it's surprisingly short-lived - two or three minutes later it has largely evaporated, leaving behind a sudsy collar and a few patches of spotty lace. Real raspberry fruitiness on the nose, along with hints of bready, wheaty malts and very light spiciness.
Wheaty, bready malt flavours and raspberry fruitiness are the main players, especially at the forefront. Hints of steel cut oats and spiciness crop up on the back end, preceding a drying, slightly metallic aftertaste that doesn't last. Light in body, with aggressive carbonation that remains prickly and crisp for the entirety of the session; a little bloaty to be honest, but reasonably drinkable anyhow. Not very interesting, but acceptable as a basic, fruity summer quaff.
Final Grade: 3.53, a B grade. Old Fuzz Station is a serviceable fruited wheat ale, but there's still plenty of room for improvement. It starts out solid with its authentic raspberry flavours, but loses steam throughout the sip; it's also a little overcarbonated, which isn't a dealbreaker but doesn't exactly help its cause, either. I think this is marginally better than their Hazy Float Down wheat ale - if I were sitting on Two Water's patio on a hot summer afternoon, I think I'd be mostly satisfied with a glass of Old Fuzz.
