473 mL can from the brewery; no canning date. Served slightly chilled.
Pours a clear pale straw yellow colour, producing more than an inch of bubbly, soapy white head that snap crackles and pops its way into oblivion. Less than sixty seconds later, the surface is totally barren - no cap, no collar, not even a speck of lace. Mildly sweet aroma with hints of brown sugar, lemon zest, white tortilla and green apples.
Possibly one of the more palatable GF brews I've had over the years, though it still doesn't taste much like a beer. I'm getting lemon, apples and corny, vegetal sweetness, with shades of white grape and floral hops. Slightly fruity conclusion that fades to dry. Thin, watery mouthfeel with obnoxious soda pop carbonation that makes for a tiresome & bloaty session. I started gulping this back quickly just so I would have to spend less time drinking it.
Final Grade: 3.03, barely earning a C+. In the past, I have briefly considered my options if I'm ever diagnosed with a gluten allergy. Given that most of the GF beers I've tried have been pretty terrible, I figure I will be forced to give up on beer and drink cider* instead. The Water Front isn't doing anything to dissuade me from that stance: while I don't think this is especially off-putting by GF standards, it's only vaguely beer-like and there is nothing about this beverage that I found endearing. Tolerable, perhaps, but that's as far as I'm willing to go.
* I guess seltzer would also be an option, but fuck seltzer.
