This beast was born from a rowdy alliance between OCC Brewing and Whiskey Slickers. Together we hand-picked an Old Elk Wheat Whiskey barrel, then filled it with an imperial stout big enough to hold its own.
Nine months later, Old Trash Panda clawed its way out -- bold, boozy, and loaded with wheat-driven muscle.
Whiskey-soaked oak, rich malt, and a warming finish make this Stout the perfect partner for late-night raids on the good stuff.
A little wild. A little reckless. 100% worth it.

22oz bottle served in a stemless rastal. Bottle 111/137. 2023 vintage.
Pours black with a dark brown head, about two centimeters on the pour and a thick and uneven layer culminating in a 1cm ring around the edges. Smell is booze, caramel, candy. Very sweet. Cotton candy or candy corn come to mind. Some toffee and nuts.
Taste is way more roasty bitter than I expected from the smell. Sweetness is there, but comes on pretty slowly, which seems like an odd sequence. Bitterness is palpable. Booze is noticeable. Vanilla and burnt caramel. Something in the vicinity of anise.
Mouthfeel is big, thick, borderline chewy. Surprising -- leans much more toward straight up RIS with some bourbon-iness rather than a BBA stout with some RIS characteristics. Overall, very nice.

Clear, dark brown pour; near solid black in the glass; thick, dense, semi-creamy head, long-lasting and khaki hued; excellent sheets and fat fingers of foam inside the glass after every sip. Very fine aroma; low-key chocolate and cocoa powder sweetness; subtle whiskey underpinning; a touch of oak. The taste amps up the aroma qualities; light milk chocolate with a bolder whiskey bolt; very delicate caramel. Heavy mouthfeel offset with a soft, chewy character; prominent whiskey heat.
The whiskey barrel aging readily adds oomph to this beer. It is nicely balanced with the base beer. Whiskey wallop meets smooth and luxurious Russian imperial stout and the result is pretty darn good. I've never heard of Old Elk whiskies, but the is apparently distilled in Indiana and barrel aged for at least five years. Whiskey Slickers is apparently an all-women whiskey club (based out of Las Vegas?). Regardless, an interesting barrel aging collaboration.
ABV: 10.7%; pouring temperature: 59.6 °F; bottling info: 2023; 108 of 132
