473 mL can from the LCBO; dated May 10 2022 and served slightly chilled.

Pours a turbid, deep golden-orange colour, crowned with nearly an inch of puffy, soapy white head that dissipates within two or three minutes. A modest ring of lace is left behind, in addition to a thin collar and filmy cap - looks fine. Earthy and a little spicy on the nose, with wheaty malt, light caramel and grapefruit; maybe a hint of something tropical, like mango.

The flavours mostly follow the nose - a little bit of honey-syrup sweetness, some bready wheat as a backdrop, and then hops galore. I'm getting grapefruit, mango and apricot, with hints of red apple and orange pithiness towards the back end. It finishes with a hint of pithy hop bitterness that doesn't linger into a fruity, resiny, slightly boozy aftertaste. Medium-full in body, with very assertive carbonation that lends a prickly, frothy dimension to this brew's otherwise soft and smooth mouthfeel. I finished this can without a fuss, but it's not something I'd drink in multiples.

Final Grade: 3.74, a B grade. If there's one style that Ontario beer shelves have no shortage of, it's hazy IPAs. Karbon's J.E.D.I. is thankfully not just more of the same: this pale ale actually possesses a respectable malt backbone, countered by more hop bitterness than I've come to expect from a hazy IPA. On the other hand, the 6.5% is not very well integrated, and it's not as 'juicy' as most hazy IPAs. I still like it, and would consider buying this again, but it's not something I'd deliberately go out of my way for.

Rusty tangerine orange in colour with a coarse white head. Not around for long and no lace. Aggressively carbonated. Juicy indeterminate nose, some fruity hops, a whiff of malt, noticeable alcohol. Bitter and pithy with a mildly sweet finish. Overall not as interesting as other IPAs out there.

473 ml can served cold into a pint glass. LCBO purchase for about $3.70 CDN.

Appearance - Rich dark golden color with orange highlights. A finger of fluffy white head that lasts a while rests on top and gradually recedes.

Smell - Citrus with some grapefruit and mango with a big sweet malty backbone. Fairly intense aroma too.

Taste - Matches up with the nose pretty well. Less fruity with plenty of bitterness, some bready qualities and a nice kiss of citrus.

Mouthfeel - Medium full bodied with good expressive carbonation. A bit sticky on the finish, which works well with the flavor profiles.

Overall - Pretty solid IPA from this new brewery. Good combo of flavors and smells, tastes fresh and is worthy of purchase.
