10 pack ( 5 x 2) of these brews from the Hawkesbury Brewing Co. This is what appears to be their standard 'flagship beer' if you will.
Appearance: Rough pour into my Coopers tulip. It's Dark Golden maybe just bordering on amber. Thick frothy egg shell/slight tan head. Plenty of little carbonation bubbles flowing to the top. Looks similar, but better than a Aussie adjunct lager, and the slightly darker head is much more appealing.
Aroma: Almost European lager smelling, with a hint of that classical Aussie pub smell. Sweet caramel malt, with citrus bright hop aromas bursting through. Slight vegetable matter aroma, but I don't think there's Pride of Ringwood in this.
Taste: Wow. It's definitely not a generic Aussie lager. Sweet malts, slight white bread profile. Bitterness is low to non-existant but you get a lovely citrus smoothness to the overall beer. It's very smooth, slightly creamy. It's not punching you in the face with flavour, but it's not overly sweet, and very smooth.
Feel: Carbonation is nowhere near that of a standard Aussie adjunct lager. It's there, but it's a light prickle. It's very smooth, clean and refreshing. Light-Medium body.
Overall: A rare good Australian lager. 100 times more enjoyable than the Macros, and much better than some Aussie craft lagers I've had out there. Would definitely purchase and drink again.
