First full day in town and well, bourbon happened. It happened early and it happened fast. It was all hot brown and down from there. Retreated to the hotel, did a human & phone recharging, and set out again. (Evil) Davo wanted to walk there but what with ‘fuck that’, you know, fuck that. So, we Ubered out there a ways down West Main Street and were the better for it. Roadside, in an industrial strip of this and some of that…
The overhead door is open, we wander in and let our eyes adjust. Straight bar to the rear with a lower section for sales and/or accessible on the end; wood with a black laminate top, panel base & squared foot bar. Seating for just 5 on hightop chairs. Barback wall is gray subway tiled lowers with 10 non-descript black handles on a stainless panel, and a horizontal 2 x 6 letter board listing draft selections (beer, style, & ABV) above alongside a single shirt hanging. Counter space below holds glassware of all sizes & shapes. Prep kitchenings at the far end of the bar there (me, pointing). The food menu is of the sandwich for the most part. And sides. There will be sides. Oh yes, there will be sides.
A pair of roll up doors to the front, and wood plank wall lowers to both ends with ceramic mugs lining atop with a few vases with dried flowers and other vessels in the mix, too. Black upper wall space all around. Concrete floors, and black spray foamed rafter ceilings with ductwork. Drop martini glass filament bulb lamps tracing the bar & side seating, cylinder filament lamps in a row across the floor, and a trio of spinny fans with lamps forward there. 3 hightops on the far wall + 8 tables round and rec lows in rows about the room.
7 beers up (Marge, IPA, 6.8%; Eddy, Kolsch, 5%; Easy Breezy Lemon Squeezy, Saison with Lemon, Ginger, & Peppercorn, 7.8%; Crank the Petals, Hazy Pale Ale with Hibiscus, collab with Mile Wide, 5.5%; Cold Miner’s Daughter, Cold IPA, collab with Ten20, 6.2%; Flora Slivovitza, Sour Botanical, collab with Noble Funk, 8.1%; Victoria, Mexican Lager with Lime & Arbol Pepper, 5%), + a guest hard cider (Wise Bird Cider Co, Commonwealth Gold, 6.7%).
The Easy Breezy Lemon Squeezy Saison, nicely Belgiany, estery and spicy goodness; Eddy, Kolsch, clean, a good easy drinker; Victoria, Mexican Lager, it’s all pepper, and really hides what lime there may be; Marge, IPA, west coast, not too shabby & not hazy, hooray! Saison & Kolsch for the wins, but the IPA was up there, too.
I have to say, the ‘fresh organic spice’ vending machine is most curious. And the one single merch shirt item is a close second. But the beer was good, tunes were played (I heard them and everything), and the place chill. in case you were wondering (‘cause I was), the brewery is in a building out back past the small 8 table garden space. Nice friendly folks. This was a solid drop in this day.
