ove along, nothing hazy to see here. Van Henion IPA utilizes a blend of Cascade, Centennial, Citra® and Lotus hops for a balanced, yet hoppy, flavor profile and bright golden hue. This Pacific Northwest-style IPA shines with every sip.

This is another tasty west coaster with a low aroma and a sticky chewy hop profile. Drying bitterness on the end. All around solid if otherwise unremarkable.

I love Van Henion’s German varieties..but decided to try their IPA today. 12 oz. can poured into a standard pint glass. Packaged 30 days ago.
(disclaimer) In general IPAs are only about my fifth or sixth favorite style - based on beers across the entire spectrum of all craft breweries.
What I really liked about this IPA is that even at a full-on 7.2 abv, it had a somewhat restrained hop presence - And with that restraint it allows a nice malt essence to make an appearance. Hops are piney rather than tropical fruit.
Perhaps it’s more of a European style IPA, rather than American/West Coast??
Excellent mid-ABV range IPA.
I’ll be buying this one again.

Look: Lighter in color than I expected as it pours a light yellow with a short-lived white head that leaves decent lacing behind
Aroma: Navel orange, grapefruit, lime, some pine, wafts of strawberry, lychee, some herbal notes, and bready malt
Taste: A menage of citrus fruits kick this off and hit as a nice blend that begins to deepen, soon followed by some strawberry and pine. Lychee/sweet rose and herbal notes poke in and out in the middle, eventually merging with the citrus and it closes out with a nice bite
Mouthfeel: Full, clean, medium-high carbonation, and lightly dry on the finish
Overall: This is some good stuff. I hadn’t reviewed these folks’ IPA yet so went to change that and ended up scoring a really tasty beer in the process. A nice blend of citrus, strawberry, pine, and lychee that sets itself apart and coming together in a nice overall package

Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a light to medium golden amber with a one finger white head with great retention and nice lacing. Aroma of pale malt, citrus and lightly floral hops, lemon, grapefruit, mixed light stone fruit. Flavor is pale malt, citrus, floral and piney hops, lemon, grapefruit, pine and some wild flower hay; moderate bitterness in the finish. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. A pleasant surprise; I didn't notice this can had quite a few months on it when I bought it and was not sure I could give it a fair review. While the hops do seem to be subdued in herbal flavor, I found the hop bill to be quite inviting. It's a classic West Coast combination with good citrus and pine as well as some vague, but pleasant fruit notes. Citra has the front stage here with very nice lemon flavors, but kept interesting with the other flavor notes. A very nice lemon ester burst at the start of the finish which is not a alpha oil bomb, but satisfactorily bitter. I liked this one and would definitely try some of their other styles. This held up nicely to an overly long visit to the store cooler.

Found this on the dollar shelf in Portland. Pours a golden color and it is very citrusy on the nose. This is a well balanced, slightly sweet, appropriately hoppy beer. It is the definition of a classic West Coast IPA.
