Hazer Hazy Pale Ale

this one was strange, especially for a pale, as it packs some real bitterness into the second half of it, uncommon in hazy types, at least at this level, and even more uncommon in pales compared to ipa types, so this caught me off guard a little, but the robustness is nice, it doesnt come along with green bite or anything, and once i get used to it, i start to like it pretty well, although overall this was not among my favorites from our visit here. light orange tinted, cloudy but still bright, frothy white head an inch high and lasting on it, looks solid. the nose here has some mango and peach and sweet orange fruitiness up front and gets a little more familiar and northwestern later on, with pine, gin, and pineapple notes. the grain is very light to me, off dry, but minimal still. the flavor of the hops isnt quite as fruity as the nose, and the bitterness starts in right in the middle, not overdone, it seems intentional, just unexpected. tangerine, apricot, and spruce to finish, slightly oily from the hops on the palate and creamy bodied to me, i couldnt do a ton of this, and it does drink a little heavy for a pale, especially at this modest abv. nice clean ferment on it though, and overall a unique beer in a samey style space...
