Poured from 16oz can into a dimpled mug. This can says 5.3% ABV.
Appearance: extremely dark brown, nearly black with a thick finger of frothy tan foam atop. The head could stick around a little longer but otherwise a pretty beer indeed.
Smell: lightly sweet with a nice roast and undertones of chocolate. There's a hint of a vegetal character here that I notice in a lot of roasty beers, but it's not enough to detract much from the overall experience.
Taste: a bit sweet, with a light roasty character and a little bit of toffee, caramel, and chocolate. A nice stout!
Mouthfeel: medium body with a decent carbonation and creaminess. Not quite as rich as I think of an oatmeal stout as being, but not bad.
Overall: I like this beer! I was sort of anticipating something a bit smoother based on the presence of oats, but otherwise a good stout.
