Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a medium golden amber with a three finger white head with great retention and solid lacing. Aroma of caramel malt, citrus and tropical fruit hops, orange, light lemon and pine and hints of tropical fruit. Flavor is lightly caramel malt, citrus and piney hops, orange, grapefruit, pine and some dankness. Lingering solid bitterness with pine and citrus rind. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. I was hoping for a well bittered imperial IPA here and this delivered. The hop bill leans to citrus, but with quite a bit of pine in the finish. The citrus is more citrus rind than fresh fruit and there is an interesting terpene quality to the pine in the finish, instead of fresh pine needles. I'm curious about which hop delivers this interesting flavor. I got two IPAs from here today and the next one is listed as not so hoppy, but I can always hope. This brewery has been off my radar, although being in the middle of the Ballard beer zone; they seem solid. They brewed a Baltic porter, so they won my heart right away.
