Barclay Perkins, one of London’s biggest breweries in the 1800s, was among the first to brew lager on a large scale. At the time, London was famous for its dark ales, so their early experiments with this “new” crisp, cold-fermented beer helped introduce lager long before it became mainstream.

Dark pour, a one finger head, but leaves some splotchy lacing.
The dark roasted malt flavor is very enjoyable, a little grainy and nutty.
The carbonation is just a little on the high side, I’m surprised the head wasn’t bigger. Perhaps it was the pour.
The hops bitterness is nicely balanced at 24 IBUs.
The roasted malt aftertaste is very enjoyable.
A good dark lager, will definitely look forward this one again.
