Poured from 16oz can into a tulip. Canned 1/30/23.

Appearance: medium purplish hue with a thin layer of pink foam atop. It definitely looks the part of a blackberry lactose sour!

Smell: nice blackberry aroma, although to me the vanilla and lactose mostly act to mute the flavor in a way that hides the brightness.

Taste: a bit of sourness up front that brings the missing brightness to the blackberries. Like with the Blossom Hunter, I think this beer would benefit from a lighter hand with the vanilla and lactose; that said, it's still pretty darn tasty.

Mouthfeel: medium body with a light carbonation and decent creaminess.

Overall: a tasty beer, although I think it could accentuate the brightness a little more.

16oz can served in a snulip. Label says it was canned on 30 Jan 2023.

Pours a light purple color, hazy, with a bit of a whitish tinge to it, with a small, pale head and a light dusting across its surface. Smell is vague berries, a little bit of creamy vanilla.

Taste is light, a noticeable kettle sour turn to it which is never my favorite (though I'll try to set aside that bias), berry comes across with substantial cream and vanilla, tartness is hard for me to extricate from the kettle sourness. There's a little bit of fruit skin bitterness (like, blueberry skin comes particularly to mind), and something about it makes me think of wheat beers, so maybe there's a graininess there, too.

Mouthfeel is an interesting cross watery and creamy. Not the best, but not bad. Overall, it's a reasonably good fruited kettle sour, if that's your thing this won't make you sad, but I also don't think it's going to knock your socks off. Definitely worth a try.
