Hops & Hops from Sage Brewing. 32 oz crowler received in BIF #15 Brewing, from @Woemad (05/04/22). Stored at reefer at 40 degrees after processing. Reviewed 11/04/22. Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
No date. Served at 41.1 degrees in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. Final temperature 50.3 degrees.
Appearance – 3.5
First pour – Straw (SRM 3), clear.
Body – Deep gold (SRM 6), hazy. When rear-lite, same.
Head – Average (Maximum three cm, aggressive center pour), floral white, high density, and average retention, diminishing to a 0.8 to 1.1 cm crown fed by carbonation and a thin, rocky cap.
Lacing – Good. Band of tiny to small bubbles, having windows and stalactites.
Aroma – 4 – Nice piney resin hops, no malt, no yeast.
Flavor – 4 – Follows nose with a touch of malt at the end. No ethanol (7 % ABV according to what is written on the label in black marker) taste or aroma. Very weak gastric warming occurs. No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl.
Palate – 3.5 – Medium, a little thicker than water, soft carbonation.
Final impression and summation: 3.75 Probably should be rated higher but crowlers do tend to degrade faster than factory-sealed cans, IMHO. Over a week old – couldn’t drink it sooner because of temporary medication. Nice nose and flavor and mouthfeel. Tasted sessionable until you stand up.
