This was another beer given to me by a cousin late last year to go along with the Independence. Like that, this was fine to drink and true to form as it was quite refreshing during yet another hot and muggy summer night!
Of course, this had a bright appearance as the honey hue was quite pleasing as well as being offset by more than enough foam. That took a while to settle as the rocky lacing was extensive, without forming any solid semblance of rings. Lots of corn, tortilla, and a hint of turbid citrus in the nose as the taste had some grapefruit in it to boot. Full-bodied, softly slick, and containing just enough carbonation, this had just a bit of bread and blue corn in the aftertaste to give it the kick of flavor that it needed from being completely plain.
This easily fit the bill of a session beer as it would have been easy to crack another open upon finishing off. No date was to be found anywhere on the can but that didn't matter given this beer's style and how well it held up over the course of this year. While not everyone's cup of tea, this was easily better than a mass-market lager as I'd reach for it should I ever need a lawnmower beer with just a bit more to it.
