this is back on at empire for late summer, and I like this one even though nothing about really scores off the charts. its got an almost artificial electric bluish pink color, from the skins of the berries no doubt, and not quite enough head to turn me on, but a white froth of a quarter inch or so. it smells tart from the fruit, which I like better than sweet fruity beers. I just think the dose is a little too high. I cant smell or taste the wheat malt or the hops, and I end up with an almost soda-like experience. its not as bubbly as a soda, and has quite a lot of body for what it is, but im missing the balancing flavors almost entirely. berries should accent beer, not dominate it, at least in my world. this crosses that line, but still tastes really good and if you aren't looking for a hefe or an outright refreshing, this is worth a try.

4 oz. sampler poured into a tasting glass. Thick creamy head sticks around for quite a while leaving a good amount of lacing. Pale straw color, slightly hazy. The aroma is exceptional, smells like a handful of freshly picked blueberries. Tastes of a slight malt sweetness balanced with a little hop bitterness and brought together with the combination of blueberry and banana from the yeast. Medium-light bodied beer with excellent drinkability. This would make a great session beer, especially as we approach the warmer months.
