Notes: This has a Pilsner base and is brewed with the addition of New York State Concord grapes. It is fruity, tart & dry, with a dark purple color & huge grape aroma.

Canned 2021/07/22
Pours a large frothy foamy almost 2 finger slight purplish head with moderate retention, fair lacing, hazy ruby red color

Nose lots of dark reddish fruit, grape skin, cranberry, sweetened raisin fig, brown sugar caramel notes, a bit of a ruby port wine, almost no malt or beer base

Taste is very sweet, candy brown sugar, candi sugar, caramelized sugar, etc, wow sweet, candied raisin, toffee covered prune date, lots of sweet port wine, ruby sweet port no oxidation, a hint of butterscotch even, a little caramel sweet malt, biscuity toffee, no bitterness, a little Concord Manischewitz wine on the back end
Mouth is thicker syrupy like, lighter carb, hint of alcohol

Overall this was a mess, like drinking Manischewitz wine, super super sweet, yes there is Concord grape juice but basically no beer, and almost undrinkable

16 oz can split with my wife. The appearance is pretty, but it is light purple not dark. If you're going to say it's dark purple, it ought to be dark purple. Aroma is Concord grapes with pilsner malt. Taste is similar but could use a little more grape flavor. Overall it's a tasty grape ale.

Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass. The appearance is a clear pale purple color with a small off-white head. The aroma is slightly acidic with grapes. The taste follows the nose. A decent beer.

Appearance: red grape color. Tried to get a head on it. Didn't happen.
Aroma: red wine like characteristics on the nose. Grapes. Natural grape, too, not that artificial stuff.
Taste: A cross between grape soda and red wine. Carbonation is like a soda. Little bit of booze coming through.
Feel: light, fizzy.
Overall: I'm not the biggest fan of these types of beers. Even less of a fan of wine. This has a lot of wine characteristics. Booze, grapes, sweet yet dry. Not something I would buy. This was gifted to me with a bunch of New York beers.

Interesting beverage! Pretty wine color, but no head or lacing to speak of. I really like the smell. Like a good wine - with some tartness. The flavor doesn't quite match the smell, though. It's quite welcoming upon first drinking, tasting like a medium-dry red wine. What I'm not fond of is the lingering kind of bitter funk grape aftertaste. That's the best I can describe it. However, with food the aftertaste is cut somewhat.

This is a beer/wine that seems to have been meant to enjoy with food, and I would recommend having it with food as well. Overall, it's a decent beverage.

I feel like I'm reviewing a wine but I trust this is actually a beer. What can I say? Grape color, grape taste and grape aroma. I still think it's a decent drink.

Giving high ratings because it a very good fruit beer. But a beer?!? - maybe not. Very sweet and tastes like grape juice. Not liking drinking a beer. Taste NO hops, no malt, no yeast...just those grapes.

definitely big grape and wine character here, some sweetness is well balanced by tart notes. almost tastes like a wine/champagne combo or sparkling grape. very nice offering!!

Definitely a beer for sour lovers, but also definitely not for everyone. I'm not a big sour fan, but this one from Empire grew on me, and much of that had to do with the nose, which is definitely fruity Concord grape. First sip was not impressive, but it got progressively better as I drank it. Pours purple, not as deep purple as Wild Blue, but it packs a 7.5% punch, just .5 shy of the Blue Dawg beer. Moderately carbonated mouthfeel, and the grapes come through, but don't overpower. In retrospect, I'd enjoy one or two after some hot summer yard work!

A: The beer is clear purplish red in color and has a light amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a quarter finger high pink head that died down, leaving some wisps of bubbles on the surface and a collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Light aromas of Concord grapes are present in the nose.
T: The taste is similar to the smell, but has much stronger flavors of Concord grapes and slight hints of associated sweetness. In some aspects, it's almost like drinking sparking grape juice.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is an interesting change of pace, but I don't think that I could have more of these in a single sitting.

Appearance: pours a reddish purple color with a 1" head that breaks down quickly.

Smell: some grape sweetness and some grassiness comes through.

Taste: biscuit, grass, sweet grapes, and a mild bitterness are the main flavors.

Mouthfeel: medium bodied beer. Crisp from start to finish.

Overall: a unique and different beer - nice to try but not one I can drink a few of these in a session.
