Brewed for BKS Artisan Ales 5 year anniversary and inspired by various lagers and pilsners from Mexico, Italy, Germany, and the Czech Republic. This mash-up pilsner was brewed with a blend of German pilsner malts and hopped with Spalter Select, Hallertau Mittelfruh, and Saphir. Fermented and lagered for over 10 weeks, this pilsner represents the type of lager we want to drink while celebrating with friends !

Pours a straw color with a light fog to the translucency. Head is a couple fingers of white foam. Aroma is a squeeze of citrus, tangerine, and herbal hops over cracker, wafer, and biscuit malts. Slightly sweet initially before it dries out. Flavor profile is tangerine, orange zest, and lemon zest with some herbal and grass hops sprinkled throughout. Cracker, wafer, and biscuit malts help dry it out. Hops are a lot more forward in the flavor than the nose, serving up a much higher contrast between hops and malts. Mouth feel is medium-thin in thickness. Texture is crispy with a somewhat sharp effervescence. Overall, great hops and malts, setting a nice balance between the two.
Served in a 15.5oz Spiegelau tulip from a 16oz can. 8th Anniversary. 4.25 | 4.25 | 4 | 4.25 | 4.25

Pours a straw color with a very light haze to the transparency. Transparency is more clear when the first half or three-fourths of the beer is poured into the glass. Head is two fingers of fluffy white foam. Aroma is bready, wafery, crackery malts with mild grassy, herbal, and spicy hops. Nice blend of the two, not pushing too far either way. Flavor profile is crackery, wafery, nutty, with a very mild cardboard malt note. Mild grassy, herbal, and very faint resin hops round it out. Compared to the nose, the flavor profile is more malt forward. Mouth feel is medium-thin with a watery, semi-crisp texture. Overall, a fine pilsner. A good mark for the anniversary. Nothing over the top, but not sub-par either.
