Wee Heavy. Our take on a traditional strong scotch ale/wee heavy is brewed with Maris Otter pale malt, caramalt, crystal and amber malts in addition to Invert Sugar No.2 and demerara sugar. Cold conditioned in tank for six weeks. Hail the Goat!

The Wee Heavy is seemingly Scotland's answer to the English Barleywine (admittedly with some micro-cultural differences.) But the two styles serve the same purpose they just arrive at their sweetness differently.
Iron Skull is a very good Wee Heavy. I may have poured it too hard, but it has a huge head, but doesn't show much foam by the end. I detect mostly sweet malt and probably would like to Smell some more of its spicing or herbing. Tastes are very well balanced, an accomplishment given that two types of sugar are used. Finishes semi-dry, also a show of talent. Better than medium-mouthed, this not viscous; fine given the semi-dry.
This is my second from Holy Goat. And despite their macabre artwork still making my squeamish, I give them very good Overall Hugs because they brew well at only four years old. While they specialise in mixed fermentation (also difficult to achieve), I like very much their modern interpretation of this traditional malt beverage. The Scots probably blend malts better than anyone on earth. Slainte" !

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
