Format: standard 330mL brown bottle with a simple but stylish label.
Appearance: pours a vibrant deep orange-gold, with a frothing head that settled to a half-finger with decent retention. Decent.
Aroma: the predominant aroma here is by far a heavy, artificial yet earthy caramel. Not brilliant, to be honest.
Taste: earth and some wood aromas come through, with an unimpressive caramel flavour clinging on.
Aftertaste: pretty much the same, but a touch of bitter hops coming through.
Mouth feel: pretty good - medium in body with a fairly high carbonation. An easy drinking mouth feel, unfortunately the flavour doesn't quite hold up.
Overall: not a terrible beer, but neither is it crash hot. And for AU$60 a case, it simply isn't worth it.
