A: Deep dark brown with a gorgeous ruby red note under direct light. Small but stubborn creamy off white head.
S: Light nose of roasted malt and caramel.
T: Big roasted malt character throughout that starts off sweet, with a bitter coffee and alcohol finish. Notes of liquorice early on but dies away quickly.
M: Smooth meddium feel, but over-carbonated and a bit to watery for the style.
D: Was nervous going into this one after previous encounters with Monteith's but was presently surprised. Nothing special but worth a try.
