Monteith's are well known in Australia for their Cider range, but their beer range is gaining more and more traction with some decently little notes. I feel like this could be as winner:
Look: Deep bronze, pretty much an amber ale colour. Thin white head. Looks pretty. Looks malty.
Smell: Deep strong stone fruit aroma, plum, raspberry, cherry and cranberry/blackcurran , little bit of citrus notes poking through too, orange. Sweet maltiness as well.
Taste: Roasted malt and stone fruit. Dark malt sweetness. Not too bitter, quite refreshing. Quite mellow however overall. Definitely getting a cranberry vibe.
Feel: It's thin and watery, and only 4.4%, so very sessionable.
Overall: It's got some interesting smells and flavours that I wasn't expecting. Honestly, it's more an English Ale than an American Pale Ale me thinks. It's a bit thinner and waterier than I was hoping/expecting. It's quite enjoyable. If it was a slightly higher ABV and not so watery, I think it could be a real winner.
