a goofy name here for this beer, but a serious brewery, just in their second week of being open right now, another fine addition to the already flourishing spokane scene. this is pretty true to style, the malt hits as much robust porter as it does irish stout to me, a little more bitterness and heft to this, oaty for sure, and the malt comes across as english to me too, a little sweet in the nose, bready and toasted in the flavor, nice with the layers of flavor this has, identifiable irish ale yeast all through it, nice dark chocolate and molasses notes, a but nutty, even hazelnut in the center, warms up favorably as well. its oddly clean though too, fuller bodied, nice and dry, and somehow fast finishing. to me the technical expertise is apparent here, like this came from someone who knows what they are doing, and thats great to see from a place in the early going. this isnt perfect, it could use a little refinement overall, but the recipe is solid and i think they are off to a great start in here. looking forward to a return visit already!
