Our premium Munich Helles Lager is produced in the traditional way with the highest grade German Pilsner malt and Munich malt and hopped with German Hallertauer hops.
Flavours of fresh baked bread predominate along with the gentle spicy/floral aroma of the Hallertauer noble hop. The hops coupled with the water’s mineral profile create a crisp, refreshing finish.
The traditional German lager yeast and extended lagering process create a a delicious, easy drinking beer that leaves you wanting another pint as soon as you finish the last sip.

473 mL can from the LCBO; dated Nov 4 2021 and served slightly chilled.
Pours a clear golden-blonde hue, initially crowned with two fingers of foamy, soapy white head that collapses within two or three minutes' time. A sudsy cap and collar remain in place, with some lace deposition later on, as the level drops - looks fine to me. The aroma is subtle, but appropriate for the style: bready, crackery malt sweetness and graininess, with hints of grassy hops and apples.
I think it's a pretty solid German-style lager - quite clean with no off flavours, and that's actually impressive for a can of beer that clocks in at about 8 months old. Bready at the forefront, with crackery, grainy sweetness and hints of apple skin giving way to spicy, grassy, slightly floral noble hops on the back end. Light in body, with low-ish carbonation that gently rolls across the palate, resulting in a smooth mouthfeel without much crispness. As easy to toss back as any well-made German beer.
Final Grade: 3.81, a B+. I'll admit that I came into this review with trepidation, as I've had more than a few mediocre contract-brewed Ontario lagers in the past. Fortunately, 4est Lager really does remind me of a quality German lager, and this is coming from someone who drinks a lot of Hofbräu Original - an excellent O.G. Munich helles if there ever was one - meaning I do have a relevant frame of reference here. I'd love to try this again, and will look for a fresh flat of cans the next time I'm shopping in London.
