As Western graduates who love to crack open a cold one after a long day’s work, we found that no beer properly satisfied our needs. Often, we found that the craft beers were too expensive and were catered to people double our age. While value beers lack quality and continue to raise their prices. We hope that CRANK becomes the beer of choice for young adults, as well as people of all legal ages (19+) looking for a true value beer that they can enjoy.

355 mL can from TBS; packaged Sep 14 2020 and served slightly chilled. If I had bought this anywhere else, I'd be surprised and annoyed that it's a year and a half old... but that's TBS for you. At least they kept it cold.
Pours a clear pale straw yellow colour, kicking up half a finger of loose, soapy white head that sizzles off within a minute or so. It leaves behind an impressive coat of even lace as it is reduced to a creamy collar and filmy cap - looks fantastic for a light beer. Smells grainy on the nose, with corn husk, apple skins and white bread.
Tastes alright - nothing spectacular, but as a light beer it functions well enough (even after the warehouse aging process). Cereal grains, corn husk, light grain sweetness and maybe a hint of grassy hay towards the finish; lingering suggestions of apple skin and grain husks into the aftertaste. Light in body, with middling carbonation and a frothy, surprisingly satisfying mouthfeel considering the style - this might actually be the most impressive facet of the beer, at least to me. Excellent drinkability, of course.
Final Grade: 3.4, a B-. Crank Lite Lager was a random grab, for which I had no real expectations, having never heard of the beer or the brewery... and the style itself does not exactly inspire enthusiasm. And this can is still super old. In spite of all that, I still think it's a pretty good light lager, beating out the macro alternatives in nearly every category, other than price. If I find a fresh can, I'd give it another shot - mostly to see if it's actually a good craft lager, or just a serviceable swigger.
