Had on tap. Murky yellow body with a finger of white foam. Light barnyard funk, musty brett, peach, and citrus nose kissed with oak. Taste expands on this set up: big orange, peach, lemon, big lime, apricot, some grapefruit, funk is expressive. Flowers round out with mild yeast and wine soaked oak. Feel is decently sour and funky while have a touch of acidity with sour fruitiness, bright and appropriately light in an elevated way. Reminds me of keeping together but more vinous. Very impressive, look forward to try more from sundial. Also give table beer its own style #SplitUpSaison

Foggy pastel yellow, huge billowing head that leaves chunky sheets of lacing coating the glass. Racing champagne carbonation.

Aroma is mildly funky, light bacterial notes of brie rind and musty straw. Vague lemon pith and maybe some Brett in the periphery. Dry hop is pretty subtle in the nose.

Tart and crisp, lemony citrus, melon rind, exotic calamansi and mild botanicals. Hop greenery is there but little to no bitterness. Bone dry finish, zesty carb, perfect palate cleanser. Well structured, light and effervescent, all the elements work in tandem.

Had to bust out some funky cheese to pair with this, went with Prairie Fruits’ Little Bloom on the Prairie. A perfect late summer quencher on hop harvest day. In the vein of Afterthought and Keeping Together table bier.

Batch #2

Pours a cloudy, completely opaque pale orange color. Thick, frothy off-white head builds up on the beer, quickly growing. Once formed, it lingers a moments, then quickly dissolves leaving just a thin layer of foam on top of the beer. Lots of sticky lacing coats the glass as the beer is consumed. Tons of sediment is noted in the bottom of the bottle - highly recommend avoiding pouring that last bit in the glass.

Aroma is pungent and zesty. There are notes of wet horse blanket, oak, chardonnay, lemon zest and lemon pith, and some light grassy, earthy hops.

Taste follows the nose with notes of lemon zest, tart, but not overly sour. Some underlying notes of wheat, grain, earthy dried hops, a touch of wet horse blanket from the yeast and some cracked black pepper. It is good, very nice and flavorful, but you can definitely tell its a table beer coming in at 3.2%.

Feel is light, lively and zesty. Bright, prickly carbonation. Dry finish. Actually kind of refreshing.

Overall this is my first beer from Sundial and you can color me impressed. Very nice saison and one I would happily drink again.

Batch #2. Released 8/19/22; drank 8/20/22 @ the Yarchives.

Cloudy, dull yellow/orange appearance.

An even pour yielded a nice, noisy white head; a thick curtain of tree-rung lace.

Lemon & dry wheat notes in the nose.

Medium mouthfeel.

Tart lemon & dry wheat flavors.

Tart but not sour; lively, simple & quite tasty. I'd have another!

Served from the tap in a snifter at Consume.

Brand new splinter cell-type brewery from these parts makes its off-premises debut with a dry-hopped oak-aged table beer. I am for it.

Pours a mildly hazy sunrise brass-gold topped by a finger of off-white foam. The nose comprises wet wheat, light sourdough, lemon zest, and light melon. The taste holds notes of funky wheat, light bleu cheese, lemon peel, and a hint of agave. The body is a light medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a drying finish. An enjoyable, unexpectedly tart-ish take on the usually pretty uneventful table beer. Looking forward to seeing what else these folks put out.
