Appearance - 4.0
A firm pour yields two fingers of loose white head over a VERY light yellow body, looking more champagne than beer, with lively carbonation. Good head retention and a little patchy lace; got to say it's a pretty good looking pale lager.
Smell - 2.0
Sweet passionfruit flavour (not juice) first brings up thoughts of American and new world hops - a real positive. However, by the second sniff I've had enough, as sugary sweet passionfruit is all there is (no malt, no hops, no yeast).
Taste - 2.0
Definitely doesn't taste like beer. Passionfruit flavour is sweet and though not particularly strong, manages to mask any semblance of malt or hops with the exception of a slight husky note. A little tart in the middle, but sweetness wins out in the end.
Mouthfeel - 1.5
Overly carbonated, gassy and bloating, though the scouring action of the bubbles does help to distract from the sticky sweetness. Stings the throat on the way down.
Drinkability - 2.0
Certainly nicer than Cruiser's standard range of drinks, though still too sweet.
OVERALL - 2.35
More a malternative than a real beer. Not horrible, but definitely not something that someone who considers themselves a beer drinker should be drinking. Simple, sweet and ultimately unappealing.
