Poured from 440mL can into my Bierwerk Züri becher glass ... appropriate! Best by 10/21/26, I picked this can up today at the brewery.

Appearance: pale straw hue with just a tiny hint of haze and a thick head of frothy ivory foam. Quite a lot of foam poured initially, but it settled down to leave a chunky lace on the glass.

Smell: light malt with a fair dose of graininess and a bit of astringency. It's fine, but honestly not my favorite.

Taste: a bit sweeter than the aroma, so that some of that grainy astringency is better balanced. Hops are moderately bitter and have a nice noble character. It's not bad.

Mouthfeel: medium body with a decent carbonation and creaminess.

Overall: a perfectly cromulent helles, although a bit less astringency would help across the board.

Who likes to speculate about probabilities that are too much work to fathom? Here's one for you.
Only two reviews on this beer in its first nine months. Both reviewers are from Chicagoland. And they've talked about having a brew together. So I guess this is it. (In part because I'm in the process moving to London.)

Bought from the Winterthur store of Drinks Of The World (a Zurich chain of 8 stores in rail stations), I was expecting something else from Unamas (which means "one more" in Spanish, indicating this was a session lager.) But no lime or margarita appeals to my senses. Instead, I found this a straight-up Helles: simple, malty, balanced and refreshing. In brief, well done.

The biggest difference I found from Revzeb (remember him, I'm having a beer with him) is he had his copy on tap and mine came out of can; so I get less foam, but the same brilliant clarity. I also give points for cute cans and this one I like as it captures my urban experience here. Smells? Sweet malt in breakfast bread. Very well balanced, just enough hops to balance the backbone. While on the lighter side of medium-mouthed, Unamas was clean, refreshing, and a great accompaniment to mild Indian food.

My first from Zuri, I went on their website and they are very impressive for a three year old. (And they have an English translation button!) Lots of sweat and joy in this micro... and they seem to be going places faster than their age. I'm enjoying my stay in Zurich and am glad to see how their reform of beer laws in Switzerland has made this a crafters paradise compared to their neighbors in Bavaria and Austria. I consider Bierwork Zuri one more benefit of that reform. Prost !

Had on tap, fresh from the tank, woah! Great lacing from the big eggshell white head on the golden bodied pour! Honeyed malt meets fresh baked white bread loaf, bread stars ultimately meeting light lemon and grass from the hops. Smell is more bready and hops oriented, malt is the backbone only. Little lighter in the body, but very crisp and clean. Fantastic helees lager!
