Brewed for the 2015 Portland Craft Brewers Conference

“A beer for all you craft beer drinking chuckleheads. This collaboration brew takes inspiration from Berliner Weisse, but we rooted it down in Central Oregon. We mixed up the malt bill with Great pilsner, wheat, rye, raw farro and locally grown hard red spring wheat from Mecca Grade Estate Malt in Madras, Ore. Tartness is provided from a lactobacillus fermentation, and lemony, floral and sweet hop notes come from healthy additions of Oregon Meridians and Crystals. Additionally, we infused the aroma of our landscape with juniper berries and evergreen tips.”

Enjoyed from my CBC Teku... Slightly hazy light yellow brew with a good enough sudsy white head...

Nose begins with a light lactic hit and moves quickly into the smell of the PNW conifer forests... Pine and juniper notes were hard for me to definitively pick out until I read the bottle, but now I can't miss it... Wheat and pils malt are present but there only to compliment the other elements.

Flavor begins lightly sour and moves into the juniper berries and something that I normally associate with Christmas trees not beer :-) but it reaaaallly works in this setting... The evergreen notes are lower and mesh with the lacto/lemon tartness effortlessly.. Incredibly refreshing while sitting under a nearly full moon and listening to the drone of far-away traffic.

Light and effervescent... so very drinkable.. enjoy this one warmer and to allow the forest to really grow on the finish.

Superb... I want more bottles of this... Hit me up if you have some/any.

On tap at Belmont Station, Portland, Oregon (from notes)

This beer pours a lovely hazy yellow with a nice white head. Nice to look at. Nose is assertive floral tones with a clear lacto character - you either love it or hate it; I love it, especially with the floral and fruity undertones. Mouth feel is medium bodied with nice carbonation and very inviting. Flavor profile is a lovely funky lemon/sweet lemon/sweet flowers with that nice lacto undertone and all with a nice hoppy character. This is a well balanced and very drinkable beer.
