Honestly really easy drinking dark beer. I saw a review about the smell being like whocestershire sauce smell with steak. They are correct, it has a interest smell. But the taste is so good. I don't drink dark beers often. Try it plz

Look - perfection. Carbonated used motor oil, huge head, tons of lacing.
Smell - ehhhh…lager-like smell with the soy/Worcestershire/steak sauce smell that you often get with stouts and porters that aren’t sweet. Hints of piney hops.
Taste - solid beer. Well-placed piney hops are expertly-balanced by heavy malts. Hints of very dark chocolate. I prefer sweet imperial pastry stouts, but always appreciate a beer like this that is great-tasting without seeming like it’s trying too hard. Not a “pick me, pick me” beer, this beer proves itself through solid, quality ingredients, brought together by master brewers.
Feel - great level of thickness with a perfect carbonation level.
Overall - I prefer much stronger beers; this is not a beer I’d seek out, but is a great choice if you want a solid brew that isn’t super powerful.

Can produced in 12-25.
Tall tan head erupts above a deep brown but clear beer that shows flashes of ruby when back lit. Good lace trails.
Head slumps quickly to a persistent collar.
Aroma is singed evergreen and bakers chocolate, raw grain and honey.
Flavors of mocha-maple beside sharp grass and pine needle bitterness. Big chocolate malt character with great hop balance.
Body is a light medium, a bit watery cold but more complex and tongue heavy as it warms.
Finish is long and dry, again almost tart hop bitterness lingers with some burnt grain notes.
Not quite "robust" but almost.

Bottle. I haven't had this in many years. Man! I forgot what I was missing! Colour is deep brown with a huge tan head. Nose is very roasty and toasty and quite malty with notes of sweetly roasted nuts and cocoa powder. Palate is full, plush and grippingly dry while still having a hint of sweetly roasted nuts and charred meat. The mid palate is quite dry and has notes of lightly burnt toast. The finish is long and tight. I need to get this more often.

A: appears opaque and dark brown, but if held to the light, it’s crystal clear with ruby highlights; a 1 finger finely pored tan head that receded to a wispy cap with a moderate tight collar; light lacing;
S: deeply roasted grain with milk chocolate;
T: milk chocolate with deeply roasted grain; more chocolate up front and more grain toward the finish; mild to moderate bitterness at the end;
M: medium bodied; moderate carbonation; moderately dry finish;
O: smooth and easy drinking;

One of the best porters I’ve ever had . Perfectly balanced flavors , nothing stands out (in a good way ) ,and the finish is damn near perfect .

I have been trying out probably now 15 porters and stouts this winter, and this is my favorite so far. Excellent flavor and absolutely NOTHING to complain about--rare for me.

Damn I forgot to save this one...
I rent the can and I saved it., I'm bringing him home is a really good porter...
Trying to recreate it It was overly cold in it cooler that's about 38°... I let it warm up for a good 20-25 minutes...
As agitating a little bit poured nicely...
Poured beautifully ...
This is a contemplative beer.. It's sweet it's malty almost brown sugar... Is it familiar hop note It's Bend, Oregon so you guys think West Coast.... He's so sweet malted chocolate milk brown sugar...
What is that fruit note ?I peeked ahead... I called it raised and maybe Cherry they're calling something else I got to do my research... There's definitely something there that's drid fruit and sweet..
Malt Carmel... High Sharp note ... Say classic old style... Seems like those hops... There's some chocolate in there and some raisin . What is that
.. could be a dried cherry there's definitely a fruit essence maybe a coffee not when it opens up
now it's malty there's a hop note that's familiar old time old style...
It's more than a medium body leaning towards... Full... Milk chocolate.... A touch of coffee... Is a gorgeous beer gorgeous head...
Later comes caramel chocolate... Milky creamy malty vanilla something going on there.... Save it and move on... Definitely need to have this one again
To be continued...

Delicious easy to drink beer. I love the roast flavor with a little hoppiness to keep it light. Bought a Six pack of cans around thanksgiving and had them over the holidays. Very enjoyable and makes me want more Deschuttes and more Porter.

Its good. Gets better with each sip. Tastes like coffee with a bit of chocolate and brown bread. Subtle blueberry and blackberry. Subtle herbal hops. A fresh spring water mineral flavor. A nice balanced fresh finish. It’s kinda watery. It’s sort of a watery stout, like Guinness. Related to a Schwarzbier. An alternative to Guinness or Kostritzer. Not as good as those beers from the tap in their native country. From the bottle it’s better than Guinness and about as good as Kostritzer.

BBP is the standard all others should be rated from. A real PNW gem.
Simple and not trying to do too much. Hits above its weight.

A porter done right. Very dark and rich. Creamy mouthfeel. They don't skimp on the malts. Nor do they load it with West Coast hops that are all wrong for the style. It does say Cascades on the brewery's web page, but they certainly aren't in the foreground here. There's cocoa powder and some roast, but it doesn't drift into dry stout territory.
