Pours clear, gold in color with one inch head. Taste is big smoke and grains of paradise. Light bodied, smoky, with moderate carbonation. Delicious smoky beer that drinks like a light rauchbier. Would get this again.

Bottle:
Pours a tan yellow-orange, hazy enough to not see through, but the motion of the bubbles that supply the off-white head can be seen.
Not sure why I expected a gose with a light smoke, but this flipped the script with a nice smokey scent that had a light citrus sour edge to it.
The beer starts cleanly, maybe a little too much so. A little tang more than sour plays on the edge of my tongue. The smoked aspect isn’t as strong as the nose, but given the base notes, this could be good. The salt is similarly light, as is the carbonation which might have us at the word for this beer: light.
Nothing offensive here, and the sour note is the most prevalent of the light flavors. I would’ve liked to see the smoke a little more in the flavor, to see how sour and smoke could play together.

i bet they never brew this one again! what a mess from an always reliable and high quality operation. perhaps it has aged a bit too long in the cooler from which it was poured, but man, this is really quite poor, especially by their standards. it looks alright, clear and thin, but foamy and bright. aroma of medicinal weirdness, iodine, and that liquid smoke chemical stuff they sell to well intentioned home bbq folks. i get no wheat, and only a stinky hot lactic pucker that really clashes with the smoke. i have had and enjoyed plenty of smoked sour beers, so the combination of those two elements is not the issue. i get some woody smoke in the flavor, which is far better than the near repulsive nose, and i get some wheat here too, albeit tannic and stale tasting. the sourness is cleaner than it smells, but with an odd citrus thing, and coming on too soon and lingering too long. i get almost no salt, and the acidity isnt quite high enough to cut the thick smoke, the beer just isnt substantial enough, and its a turnoff in the end. high carbonation is appreciated, and its not overly acidic which is fine i think. they missed the mark on this, unless there was some gross cellaring or serving error at the bar where i had it, but i really didnt like this at all. i only give it the scores i do here because i appreciate them pushing into this realm, but this is a disaster for the most part...

Damn. Had to get this from the brewery and it was highly recommended to me by a friend. I love me a good sour gose and it really scratches that itch. the smoky part does not overwhelm, it adds a deep savoriness to the beer. it lacks a more salty note that I would expect from a gose, but it is such a well crafted beer that i forget that part all together. Damn, if I knew it would be this good I would have bought a case when I was up there.
