On tap at Belmont Station the other day. Listed at the smaller brother of Dissident...
The beer pours a reddish amber color with brown highlights. Lacing and head retention are pretty good, and the beer certainly looks nice enough. On the nose, this is a serious Oud Bruin. The beer is very vinous, but with considerable black berries, light vanilla, light brown sugar and light caramel as well. Both on the nose and the palate, this is pretty complex beer, with a lot going on. The flavor profile replicates the nose pretty closely, with some light vinegar as well on the finish. There's a sweet and sour component to this beer, augmented by some light vanilla, brown sugar and caramel. The beer is a bit acidic, but not overly so, and the alcohol is very well integrated into the flavor profile (though you can tell it's up there a bit). I guess I would call the mouthfeel medium bodied, with a sweet tart finish.
Personally, I'm not a big fan of the Dissident (too sour for me), but I liked this just fine. A very well crafted beer from the folks at Deschutes.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
