Rated 9/21/2020 first tried. This is an OK wheat beer, nothing special. A little more hop flavor and fuller body than I was expecting from a wheat beer.

Appearance-
A very light straw, with a lighter Haze than is typical of the style. Nice typical bleach white wheat beer head. Retains decently, doesn't lace a ton, but could have been my glass.

Aroma-
Wheat with a relatively heavy fruity, nearly berry scent.

Body-
Light, and although adequate, a lower amount of carbonation relative to the style.

Flavor-
Lightly sweet malt breadiness up front, with a berry fruit note from the yeast. Finishes with the standard wheat yeast twinge(in a good way). Barely balanced with a hint of what tastes like Nobel hops... Not Saaz, likely hallertau or tettenang.

Bottle from Albertsons. Hazy golden, small ring of head. Light grainy aroma, right where it needs to be. Taste too is bready, crackers, biscuits. Solid wheat ale.

I got this off the single shelf at a Jewel in Naperville near my good friends house. It poured a cloudy yellow with white head that is leaving some lace. The scent had grain base. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with grain and very subtle orange hints. The mouthfeel is lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall its a nice beer.

With a part of the beer that wants to be a traditional wheat beer but the other part wants to be of true Americanized mindset, the brewers of Deschutes bring these two sets of taste together along with a Pacific Northwest attitude.

Simply, yet aptly named American Wheat, the beer pours pale and cloudy goldenrod with a creamy, rich and lathery head. Bready, cereal, citrus and herbs round the nose with a doughy and botanical scent. Creamy sweetness applies a pillowy coat of wheaten malt onto the tongue for a gentle but expansive confectioner's taste.

The richness of wheat malt and the simplicity of pilsner grains play softly on the middle palate while inviting a hop balance of under ripened citrus, grapefruit, orange, lemon and then a estery apple taste to build complexity and charm. Bready sweetness eventually relaxes and the bitter balance comes with lemon pepper, lemongrass and a fine fresh grassiness to boot.

Medium light on the palate, the beer's firmer texture never insinuates a rich taste as its bready charm rests on the finish with a delicate pastry taste. Spiced with hops, a dryness ensues to provide a crisp, clean and refreshing session with a linger of mint, vanilla and lemongrass.

Ok Amer Pale Wheat Ale. Pours an almost clear gold color with a foamy white head and thin bands of lacing on the pint glass. Head retention is better than average. Aroma is very mild. A little citrus, lemon, and a slight amount of wheat bitterness. Taste is pretty mild too. Once again, lemon, wheat bitterness, and a little grassy hops. Mouth feel is light and refreshing. Overall, an ok thirst quencher.

LOOKS: A hazy, golden/lemon, with a slight head that is gone quickly. Not much for carbonation rising.
Aroma: Slight skunky/grassy hops, and a bready malt.
TASTE: A little bit of lemon peel, bready malt.
FEEL: Good full carbonation, thinner body, but, not watery, dryer on the finish.
OVERALL: OK. Much better stuff out there.
