1L howler from Sherbrooke Liquor store. Wow, the Deschutes rep around here really seems to be busting their ass!
This beer pours a mostly clear, pale golden yellow colour, with three fingers of puffy, loosely foamy, and bubbly off-white head, which leaves a few examples of rock outcropping pattern lace around the glass as it lazily subsides.
It smells of oil of attar, some muddled domestic citrus peel, gritty and grainy cereal malt, and a touch of earthy yeastiness. The taste is grainy and crackery pale malt, rosewater, still mixed and matched generic citrus rind, a hint of damp minerality, and some well-understated earthy, musty, and herbal green hoppiness.
The carbonation is fairly timid in its milquetoast frothiness, the body a so-so medium weight, and generally smooth, with just a touch of clamminess arising as things warm up a tad by this particular juncture. It finishes off-dry, the floral character predominating.
Overall - yeah, the grapefruit gets short shrift in this offering, letting the rose essence walk all over it. I feel like I need to go find some milk chocolate and jelly candies, so I can at least approximate one of my favourite candy bars with the rest of this serving. Oh, I forgot something - this is not sour, in the least. Just sayin'.

Served from a Howler, $9.00.
Pours a clear pale gold, minimal head of foam, very spotty lacing.
Smells of grapefruit, flowery, lemon zest, light tartness.
Taste is of lemon, grapefruit, sweet tartness, earthy, flowery.
Light body with light carbonation.
Interesting and a bit difficult to put ratings on. I do like it.

Color - Pours a light straw color, almost champagne-esque. The head quickly dissipates to leave a very light lacing around the edge of the glass.
Aroma - Strong floral notes with underlying sour grapefruit and lemon flavors.
Taste - Tastes like what you expect from a sour. It has pleasant levels of grapefruit and lemon with a slight tartness that nips at my tongue.
Mouthfeel - Very light and crisp with some carbonation tingle.
Overall - This is a great all-rounder: Not too sour, not too sweet, and very simple. Although I feel like its missing something and could be much more.
