Actually classified by the brewery as a Double/Imperial Red. Pours a one finger dark tan head over a minimally hazy pomegranite red rust liquid. Smells piney hops, oranges, marsiano cherry syrup (spelling?), and iron. Gentle alcohol burn has a bit of rough and carries a limited spectrum of medium-dark esters.

Tastes quite nice. Malt sweet is present with a balancing alcohol and sting, some hop rough, and a mixture of hop flavor and fruity esters that come across a tropical fruit. Drying woody finish with an aftertaste of hay. Overall, a bit light on flavor from what the potential could have been. Seems like alot of dead space oon the palette.

Superthick mouthfeel and moderate/light carbonation. Has a touch of mead-like honey-wax quality about it. Alcohol sting is a bit much for me.
