Deschutes doesn't dabble in the Belgians to much, but they really should do it a lot more!
THe last really good belgian I had was their 19th Anniversary.
This Belgian special ale has the added perk of fiery pepper. Not over the top, by a long shot, but a good spicy balance.
"The mash consists of pilsner malt, Special B malt, rolled oats, chocolate, and Guajillo peppers. Candied sugar and Hallertau hops. Trappist yeast. This artisanal ale is a slow sipper and a thought provoker."
Has a spicy sugary twang in the aftertaste that doesnt really do it for me. The pepper spice is well balanced and a nice touch.
