Notes: A collaboration with Travel Oregon. The magic of Oregon can seem like a whimsical fairy tale. Tropical-forward IPA with notes of citrus zest, tropical hops, coconut, melon, herbal.

Not my favorite from Deschutes, which offers a number of superior beers. This is a middle of the road IPA, not much to it. I shared some with my friend who dislikes IPAs, and she was very fond of it. In other words, not for hopheads.
Look- hazy, orange, with weak head. Feels thin, little carbonation. Slight hop aroma, but that DOES NOT carry to the taste.
Taste- tangy with chocolatey undertone, but the taste abandons the tongue much too quickly.

Six pack of bottles purchased at Safeway in Bothell, Washington.
Packaged on date is 07/30/19, very fresh. Served in a pint glass.

Look- Very slightly hazy, light amber color. Small, lingering eggshell white head that recedes very slowly. Modest amount of lacing. Light amount of carbonation visible in the glass.

Smell- Citrus (tangerine, grapefruit, lemon), pine, pineapple, generic tropical fruits and slight nectarine, coconut (like fresh shredded coconut meat or some fresh sugarcane), bready malt, floral/spicy hops.

Taste- Tangy citrus and tropical flavors, a bit of stone fruit. Piney, malty but fairly bitter, good amount of bread crust malts. Floral hops and a little dank in the finish. Moderate bitterness. Malts assert themselves here.

Feel- Medium bodied. Clean, light, dry bitterness. Moderate carbonation.
It's crisp, smooth and easy to drink. balanced finish.

O- Interesting new brew from Deschutes. Not sure what hop does it, but the coconut notes make it even more tropical. Pretty tasty.

I live in Bend, OR, home of Deschutes Brewery, home of a lot of breweries so I'm a little spoiled. Deschutes is not one of my favorites. I rarely if ever buy their permanent offerings and seldom go to their brew pub. There are just too many other choices here with beers that I prefer. This one, however, surprised me. I picked up a six pack of 12 oz. bottles to take to a wedding reception. I was surprised that there weren't the typical notes of white wine and citrus that can dominate Deschutes IPAs. The body is lighter than some IPAs of similar gravity making it a nice, warm weather drink. The malt-to-dryness ratio is balanced. This is a good beer, one of my favorites from Deschutes. I don't get the name because nothing in the profile seems exaggerated. It's a well-made IPA worth trying.

Nearly clear yellow gold with just under a finger of head. Pretty big tropical fruit on the nose, guava?, pineapple, coconut, with orange peel, some floral aromas, and a little sweet malt. The hops stick around pretty well in the flavor, especially citrus, and a little pine is also evident. Slightest dankness. Medium plus mouthfeel, not terribly bitter, medium to medium-low carbonation.

12 oz bottle- Pours mostly clear golden with a medium white head that retains nicely. Aroma is tropical fruits, pungent hops, citrusy and floral. The taste is tropical, piney, malty but fairly bitter, especially for the relatively low IBU which is sitting at 50, floral and again pungent, nice dry finish I like beers that have that pungent quality to them, not sure why. Very good.

12oz bottle poured into knock-off perfect pint. Poured a clean, clear dark straw yellow color with just a thin cap of white head that very low retention and no lacing.

Light grain and piney hops were the most notable aspect of the aroma, with some slight citrus underneath.

The citrus hops were bolder on the tongue, and the flavor profile tied together nicely.

The body was light-medium, smooth, and had a medium finish that leaned slightly to the dry side.

Drinkability was good, i could see having more of these.

Overall, a nice beer. Worth a shot if you see it.

12 oz. single from Roth's West Salem store . Salem OR
This is a collaboration with Travel Oregon, who do beautiful if exaggerated posters for Oregon. Look em up they are great.
Bottle conditioned.
Traditional clear light orange/gold IPA body. Small yet persistent white ring of a head.
Have to say the aroma is odd. Its "tropical" but that's weak. The rest is almost like the ocean. Slightly tangy saltiness. Its strange but not off putting.
Taste is more tropical/mango/papya..with a bit of lemon zest and a smidgen of PNW dank..still a bit of salt but it works..maybe im going crazy?
Mouth feel is very good smooth as expected from bottle conditioning..but very easy to down.
Overall a strange but likable beer

Collaboration with Travel Oregon. Bottled on 7/15/19. 12oz bottle poured into a tulip. Pours golden with great clarity; small white head that fades leaving solid retention and lacing. The aromas start off really nice, but fade quickly. Some tropical fruits. Some coconut. Some crackers and fresh bread. Some grains. Some malts. The flavors are clean, crisp and refreshing. More hints of coconut along with some pineapple, orange and grapefruit. Subtle hints of peach. Some fresh grass. More crackers and bread. Moderate bitterness. Malts do their thing without dominating. Finishes dry. Alcohol goes unnoticed. Mouthfeel is very nice. It's medium-bodied with active carbonation. It's sharp, smooth and easy to drink.

This is a solid IPA. Once again, it's clean, crisp, sharp and refreshing. The craftsmanship is on point. It's more or less what you would expect from an IPA by Deschutes. It's enjoyable and fun to drink. Not bad at all. I like it.
