Our wildest brew yet. The Dissident is fermented with wild yeast which means we have to isolate this brew so we do not have anarchy on our hands. Here's to solitary confinement!

I'm a big fan of Flanders Oud Bruins, and a big fan of The Dissident, regular version. It's been a while since I had the regular version. How does this 2017 Reserve compare? My biggest impression is that the oak character is much stronger here. Overall, this beer is very well balanced. It's tart, but only mildly so. It's got cherries, but it's nowhere near a fruit bomb.
I sat on this for a couple of years, and I'd say it's drinking very well right now. I don't know what it was like when it was fresher. Maybe more intense? Good stuff now, that's for sure.

This beer was excellent. It's an aged wild ale with cherries, and you definitely get the sweet fruit flavor along with a bit of tartness to balance it out nicely. I'm not one for funky yeasts and stuff like that, but this one didn't go nuts there. I wonder how it tasted when first bottled, because the bottle said brewed in August 2017, and I'd bet the fullness of the fruit hadn't yet developed at that time. That's why you age it in barrels though, right? I was happy to find this in my local liquor store, and I hope they have a few more left!
