Had this at the Deschutes Brew Pub in Portland, OR

From their bar notes:

We took our Cinder Cone Red recipe and doubled it up; double the malt, hops and alcohol. This beer provides a strong citral hop punch that rides on a blanket of smooth caramel malt flavor. To add to this beers nobility we then aged it on Oregon Pinot Noir wine barrels. Go big or go home!

To me, the beer had a pleasant floral smell. It certainly had plenty of dark-roasted malt taste and a bitter finish. There was hint of fruity apricot. It had medium carbonation.
